The most obvious way to earn Qantas Points is by flying Qantas, but there are more ways to earn points in the sky than most frequent travellers realise.
Flying with Qantas
Qantas offers more flights in Australia than any other carrier, as well as flying to over 170 destinations in over 40 countries in Asia, the Americas, Africa, Europe and the Pacific.
As such, it can be quite convenient to earn points on Qantas flights. The number of Qantas Points and Status Credits you earn is based on where you fly and the fare type purchased. Simply use the Qantas Points Calculator to find out how many points you’ll earn on your next flight.
Own a business? It’s possible to double dip by earning bonus points on Qantas flights as a member of Qantas Business Rewards. You can also earn bonus points when booking Qantas flights via selected Qantas Points earning credit and charge cards.
Flying Carbon Neutral
Earn Qantas Points on carbon offsetting. You’ll earn Qantas Points on your purchase, and Qantas will also match your contribution. To offset your flight, simply tick-the-box to Fly Carbon Neutral when booking your flight or choose to offset your flight in bookings in ‘My account’.
It’s handy to know that carbon offsetting your flight will also count towards achieving Qantas Green Tier status.
Purchasing Qantas Club membership
Do you fly often? While it doesn’t involve stepping onto a plane, Qantas Club membership unlocks lounge access in Australia and overseas.

Flying with oneworld partners
You can earn Qantas Points on eligible flights with oneworld members, partner airlines and affiliates – over 50 members, flying to 1,200 destinations in all. This includes earning with some of the safest airlines in the world including British Airways, American Airlines, Qatar, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair and Iberia.
Flying with other partner and alliance airlines
While Emirates isn’t part of the oneworld alliance, you can still earn Qantas Points on flights thanks to the Red Roo’s own partnership with the Middle Eastern carrier. Note that care needs to be taken to check the fine print as there can be some hefty carrier charges.
