‘Tis the season for bonus offers and Velocity’s latest promo could see you fast-track your Status Credit balance.
Good news Christmas shoppers! You can now earn up to 4x Velocity Status Credits with Flybuys when you link your frequent flyer account and spend at least $100 at eligible retailers before 1 January 2023.
Seeing as most of us will be stocking up on holiday essentials this month, taking advantage of this offer by planning where you shop seems like a no-brainer!

How to earn
Velocity’s up to 4x Status Credits offer is a straightforward way to fast-track your Status Credits balance on the ground.
Here are the steps you’ll need to take to make sure you receive your bonus Status Credits:
- link your Velocity Frequent Flyer and Flybuys accounts if you haven’t already
- spend at least $100 at eligible Flybuys partners
- scan your Flybuys card at the point of purchase to earn 2x Status Credits (don’t forget this part!)
- opt for auto transfers to earn 4x Status Credits
The key to earning 4x Status Credits lies in Velocity’s set-and-forget auto-transfer feature, which you can turn on here.
Opting in for auto transfer means every 1,000 Flybuys points you earn will automatically convert to 500 Velocity Points.
While auto transfers often make sense for frequent flyers, theoretically, you could turn it on for the purposes of this promotion and opt-out once the offer finishes at the end of the month.
How many Status Credits are up for grabs?
Velocity and Flybuys members can earn up to a maximum of 10 Status Credits per calendar month.
If you’ve linked your Velocity Frequent Flyer membership to your Flybuys household account, you can earn the standard Status Credit earn rate of 1 Status Credit per $100 spent each calendar month across eligible retailers, including Coles and Liquorland.
This means a $100 grocery or liquor shop could earn you 4 Status Credits, rather than the usual 1. Yes, two separate $100 shops could earn you 8 status credits under this offer!
As such, savvy points collectors will split a big shop in $100 increments to get the most out of the offer.
Housekeeping
It’s worth noting that you’ll only earn the bonus Status Credits if you spend $100 or more at Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor Market.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to stack this offer with a gift card promotion, as gift cards are excluded from the $100 spend, as are tobacco, tobacco-related products, charity donations and delivery fees.
It’s also crucial that you scan your Flybuys card at the point of purchase, or the bonus Status Credits will not be accredited to your account.
After that, it will take up to two weeks after the end of each calendar month for your Status Credits to touch down, so you should see any earned under this promotion appear by mid-January.
