Redeem a VIP Australian Open experience with Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy is serving up money-can’t-buy Australian Open experiences, including access to the Marriott Bonvoy suite, on-court action with Ash Barty, legend tennis clinics and superbox finals tickets.

Calling all tennis fanatics! Marriot Bonvoy Moments is offering the opportunity to snap up a series of once-in-a-lifetime Australian Open 2023 experiences until 8 December 10am AEDT.

A range of VIP Australian Open event packages are being auctioned off to lucky Marriott Bonvoy members who can bid for their piece of tennis greatness.

At the time of writing, some of the more aspirational packages have now attracted very high bids, but prices remain low for some experiences (at least, for the time being).

If you’re stuck for a way to redeem your points this Summer, why not consider choosing an experience over flights?

Bidding for Marriott Bonvoy moments: How it works

Marriot Bonvoy Moments is offering over a week of ultimate tennis greatness across 10 different experiences, with dates running from 19 January to 28 January 2023.

Each experience features a select number of packages throughout the tournament, which members can bid for simply by clicking here and signing in.

While some more popular experiences currently have almost 80 bids, others currently only have around 5. As such, at the time of writing, Marriott Bonvoy members could technically bid to watch Australian tennis history for under 90,000 points!

Game: Digging into the packages on offer

Legend tennis clinics

There’s no better way to learn than by doing, but why not learn from the best while you’re at it? On 19 and 21 January, Marriott Bonvoy members can experience the following:

  • an on-court tennis clinic with an Australian tennis legend
  • reserved seats for two Day Session tickets to Rod Laver Arena
  • full access to the Marriott Bonvoy hospitality suite

Behind-the-scenes tour

Starting from 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy points (at the time of writing) you can experience an iconic moment in time with two Night Session tickets to the first Grand Slam Tournament of 2023, plus:

  • behind-the-scenes tour before the night matches
  • complimentary food and beverages from the Marriott Bonvoy hospitality suite

While the cost for this experience is still quite low, we’re expecting bids to increase in the coming hours – watch this space!

On-court with Ash Barty + W Melbourne stay

This ultimate Australian Open experience arguably combines the best of all the packages and includes:

  • an on-court clinic with last year’s Australian Open winner, Ash Barty
  • superbox tickets to the Women’s Final match (including food and drink)
  • a tour of Rod Laver Arena
  • full access to the Marriott Bonvoy hospitality suite
  • two-night stay at W Melbourne (worth over $1,500)

We’re not the only ones who think this experience is worth your points. At the time of writing, the ultimate Ash Barty experience is fetching 407,500 Marriott Bonvoy points, and we can probably expect this to continue to increase over the next 24 hours.

Want in on the finals action? Experiencing the Women’s Final from the superbox amidst tennis legends and a pre-match dinner will currently cost you at least 300,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

Set: How to earn Marriott Bonvoy points in Australia

Despite being an American program, it’s surprisingly easy for Australian-based travellers to grow a Marriott Bonvoy points balance.

While you can earn Bonvoy points via stays with participating properties, American Express offers an easy way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points every day.

Amex Membership Rewards unlocks the ability to transfer a minimum 600 points in increments of 300 at a 3:2 conversion rate, meaning 600 Membership Rewards points would convert to 400 Marriott Bonvoy points.

Simply log into your American Express account, select ‘rewards’ from the top banner and then navigate to ‘use points for travel’ before searching ‘Marriot Bonvoy’.

Match: Is this a worthwhile redemption?

There is absolutely something to be said for using points to redeem ‘money can’t buy’ experiences. If you or someone who know lives and breathes tennis, Marriot Bonvoy’s collection of Australian Open packages could offer priceless value.

While some of the packages have attracted bids exceeding 500,000 points, others are still quite low and could potentially be snapped up for under 90,000 points.

Once again, it’s worth noting that these bid amounts are likely to increase over the next 24 hours, so stay tuned!

Remember that bidding closes at 10am AEDT tomorrow, meaning you have less than a day to place your winning bid. You can head to the Marriott Bonvoy Moments website here to learn more.
