Score up to 15% bonus with Cathay Pacific Asia Miles transfers

The Cathay Pacific Asia Miles program has launched a new miles transfer bonus, valid until mid-November.

Members can register now to earn up to 15% bonus miles on transfers from eligible credit and charge cards, including American Express Membership Rewards.

There’s also the ability to register separately to protect miles earned before 1 January 2020, which are still subject to Asia Miles’ hard expiry policy.

How many bonus Asia Miles can I earn?

The bonus offer is available across two tiers, as based on the number of miles transferred. Here’s how it works:

Bonus offerRequirements
10% Bonus MilesConvert credit or charge card points and earn less than 30,000 miles
15% Bonus MilesConvert credit or charge card points and earn 30,000 miles or above

It’s worth knowing that there is no cap on the maximum bonus points that can be earned via transfer.

Digging into the details

In order to receive a 10% or 15% bonus, Asia Miles members need to register and then complete an eligible transfer by 12 November 2022.

To access the offer, you’ll need to register here. Then, wait for email confirmation before undertaking a transfer via an eligible Asia Miles transfer partner.

Those looking to extend miles due to expiry will need to also register separately here.

The T&Cs for the promotion can be accessed here.

Why Asia Miles?

The Cathay Pacific Asia Miles airline program offers compelling value for savvy frequent flyers seeking award redemptions on Qantas and other oneworld partner-operated flights.

Along with the ability to redeem with Cathay Pacific, there’s tremendous potential to unlock competitive redemption opportunities on Qantas metal, both domestically and on international routes – often at cheaper rates than you’d pay via Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Relax in business class with Cathay Pacific

For example, travellers looking to snag a return premium economy seat on a Qantas-operated direct flight from Sydney or Brisbane to Los Angeles will be able to save a huge 125,200 Membership Rewards points (or 62,600 airline points, almost 40%) by redeeming via Asia Miles instead of booking directly with Qantas. For more details, and a full comparison, see this post.

It’s also possible to unlock Asia Miles redemptions on other oneworld airline partners including Qatar Airways, Finnair, and Japan Airlines.

Earning Cathay Pacific Asia Miles with American Express

For Australian-based travellers, American Express Membership Rewards offers one of the easiest ways for Australians to earn into the Asia Miles loyalty program.

American Express Membership Rewards Points transfer across to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles at a 2:1 rate. Therefore, in order to unlock the 15% bonus on transfers, you’d need to send across 60,000 or more Amex MR Points.

To do so, ensure you’ve registered for the miles bonus promotion and then transfer MR to Asia Miles via your online American Express Account.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion?

    Hi Adele
I have transferred all my points to Cathay Pacific Asiamiles & you don’t get this 15% bonus till 6 weeks after 12th November 2023 & also no business class flights can be booked out of Perth Australia they show they are available with Qatar but you try to book them & it’s says there is a issue. Very disappointed & waited 3 hours on phone to try & book. If anyone has any tips I would be grateful
