How the offer works

From now until 11.59 PM on 31 October 2024, Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn double Status Credits or double Qantas Points on all eligible flights across the airline’s regional, domestic, and international network.

This offer is a favorite among Qantas Frequent Flyer members, as it significantly reduces the number of flights needed to reach higher status levels. Simply register for the offer, book your flights, and choose between racking up extra Status Credits or Qantas Points.

Double Status Credits or Points – which to choose?

When it comes to the Qantas Double Status Credit offer, you’ll need to decide whether to fast-track your status or boost your points balance. If you’re aiming for elite perks like lounge access, priority boarding, and extra baggage, double Status Credits are your best bet. For many frequent flyers, unlocking Platinum status – and the coveted Qantas First Lounge access – is the ultimate goal.

On the other hand, if you’re not chasing status but want to rack up points for future reward flights, upgrades, or other purchases, choosing double Qantas Points offers great flexibility. In fact, during the most recent offer, 60% of members opted for Status Credits, while 40% chose to boost their points. Whichever path you take, this promotion gives you a fantastic opportunity to make the most of your travel rewards.

Is it worth chasing Qantas elite status?

Achieving Qantas elite status unlocks valuable travel benefits, such as access to the sought-after Qantas First Class Lounge (yes, where you can indulge in Neil Perry’s famous salt and pepper squid – some travelers clock up miles just for that!).

Here’s how many Status Credits you’ll need to reach each tier:

• Silver Status: 300 Status Credits (250 to retain)
• Gold Status: 700 Status Credits (600 to retain)
• Platinum Status: 1,400 Status Credits (1,200 to retain)
• Platinum One Status: 3,600 Status Credits (at least 2,700 from Qantas-operated flights)

With double Status Credits, reaching these milestones becomes much more achievable. For example, a return business class trip from Gold Coast to Auckland via Melbourne, which normally earns 290 Status Credits, will now net you 580 – putting you well within reach of Gold status with just one trip.

How to Register

• Register via the Qantas website or Qantas App before 11.59 PM (AEDT) 31 October 2024.
• Book any eligible Qantas marketed and operated flight (with a QF flight number).
• Fly between 1 November 2024 and 19 October 2025 to start earning your double rewards. Your double Status Credits or Points will be credited to your account up to eight weeks after your travel.

Key Details

As always, it’s important to note that double Status Credits don’t apply to flights on other airlines, including Jetstar, Emirates, oneword airlines and other partners.

You can switch between earning Status Credits or Qantas Points during the seven-day registration window.

Points Club and Points Club Plus members can also earn double Status Credits on reward seat bookings. Bonus Status Credits earned through this promotion don’t count toward Loyalty Bonuses or Status Accelerator milestones, but they do count toward Lifetime Status.

While Qantas Status Credits Offers present a unique opportunity to fast track to a higher membership level, there are typically a number of restrictions levied to the promotion. Travellers should be aware that the following terms and conditions usually apply:

• Qantas operated flights only. Qantas status credits offers apply to flights operated by Qantas only (with a QF flight number). This means that Qantas-ticketed flights on Jetstar or partner airlines like Emirates are off the table.
• A specific booking and travel period. Promotions require travellers to register within the specified time period, and then travel in a second specified time period. Registration and/or travel outside the eligible time periods will render your journey non-qualifying.
• Restrictions on status credit usage. If you’re planning a Qantas status run with a view to completing a status challenge or achieving a membership bonus reward – think again. Qantas has recently tightened up the usage of status credits earned through status credit promotions. They now don’t typically count towards Loyalty Bonus, Membership Bonus Reward or status challenge requirements.
• Requalification period. Qantas states that status credits should be credited to your account up to eight weeks after your travel is completed. It’s important to keep this in mind if you have a restricted period of time to travel and obtain double status credits in order to retain or attain a new status tier.
