When it comes to redeeming points, there’s often a compelling case for prioritising ‘experiences’ over flights.
Case in point: The ‘Moments’ initiative operated by Marriott Bonvoy, a leading hotel loyalty program that is a direct transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards.
This program offers a range of ‘money can’t buy’ experiences throughout the year. And while popular experiences can command hefty prices, there are gems to be found if you look closely enough.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy points in Australia
It’s surprisingly easy for Australian-based travellers to grow a Marriott Bonvoy points balance.
While you can earn Bonvoy points via stays with participating properties, American Express offers a straightforward way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points in Australia.
Amex Membership Rewards members can transfer a minimum 600 points in increments of 300 at a 3:2 conversion rate, meaning 37,500 Amex MR points are needed to unlock the 25,000 Bonvoy points required for this redemption.
Simply log into your American Express account, select ‘rewards’ from the top banner and then navigate to ‘use points for travel’ before searching ‘Marriot Bonvoy’.
Is this redemption worth it?
As a rough ballpark, looking at the inclusions, I’d value this ‘money can’t buy’ experience at around $500 per person (or $1,000 for two). In my opinion, that’s a solid way to redeem 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points (or 37,000 Amex MR points).
