Qantas launches seasonal flights to Sapporo (Award seats available!)

Qantas has launched seasonal flights between Sydney and Sapporo, Japan, providing a new travel option for Australians looking to visit Hokkaido for the 19/20 winter ski season.

The flights will position Qantas as the first airline to service this route directly. And, as we’ll cover below, quite a few award seats have been released on the new route this morning, ready to be snapped up!

The Qantas Sydney – Sapporo schedule

The seasonal service will operate three direct flights to New Chitose Airport every week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The travel period is from 16 December 2019 to 28 March 2020.

The aircraft

Flights will be operated on the Qantas Airbus A330 aircraft, which features the highly regarded Qantas business suite we’ve previously reviewed here.

Qantas Classic Award Seat availability

sydney to sappporo availability jan feb 2020

At the time of writing, there are at least two award seats available in Economy and even Business class on this new route between mid-January and March 2019 on Mondays and Wednesdays.

This includes a small number of award seats at the tail end of the 2019/20 school holidays period.

A one-way redemption in Economy class costs 30,000 Qantas Points from the East Coast, while a Business class redemption will set you back 72,000 points (plus taxes/fees)

However, if you’re after an award seat, you’ll need to move quickly – as they won’t last for long!

Will you consider flying this new route?
