New hotels on the block: From sleek urban jungles to laid-back coastal getaways, Accor properties are popping up all over the world hotel map
Accor welcomed the year by announcing plans to expand its portfolio with more than 300 new properties for Accor Live Limitless members to enjoy worldwide.
Fast forward to November (yes, we’re really 11 months in) and Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific have seen many new Accor destinations open.
2022 has certainly been a year of growth for Accor, so as it draws to a close, we thought it only fitting to get our hotel-loving readers up to speed.
Without further ado, here’s a taste of some of what’s new and what’s still to come in the world of Accor.
New Accor properties in Asia
Accor has signed almost 40 hotels in the Southeast Asia region this year, 11 of them in Indonesia alone.
It’s Accor’s newest Kuta Beach property and a MGallery opening in Seoul, which have really caught our traveller’s eye.
Here’s a list of some of the newly opened and hotly anticipated properties you’ll be able to add to your international travel plans:
Indonesia
TRIBE Bali Kuta Beach
Part of Ennismore, a global collective of lifestyle brands, TRIBE has made its very recent Indonesian debut in true tropical style.
Location: This brand new Kuta Beach property is all about the location. We’re talking an ideal 10-minute drive from the airport and walking distance to the famous Balli restaurant and bar-lined strip.
Details: TRIBE Bali Kuta Beach offers 165 smart rooms with six different categories of rooms and suites – most of which come with balconies. Hotel features include a stunning rooftop infinity pool, collaborative workspaces, decompression zones, and co-living areas, with locally made furniture and art throughout.

South Korea
Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador
Accor recently opened a unique boutique hotel in Seoul, marking South Korea’s very first MGallery branded hotel.
Location: Located in the transportation and commerce Mapo-gu district, this hotel overlooks the Han River and is a short trip away from Incheon International Airport – ideal for a stylish business trip.
Details: Art lovers will be treated to a giant sculpture by a local artist before journeying up to the 20th floor lobby where another art installation awaits. Natural materials and tones create a tranquil ambience in each of the hotel’s 196 guestrooms. Plus, five unique dining experiences have indulgence covered, while an infinity pool, lap pool and fitness centre promote balance.

What’s still to come?
Accor’s portfolio in Asia is expected to explode over the coming years. Here’s a taste of what’s to come:
Bangkok: Mercure & ibis Bangkok Siam Ratchathewi
Accor has signed a new dual-branded Mercure and ibis hotel in Bangkok, which is expected to open in 2025.
With Qantas now partnering with Bangkok airways, frequent flyers have even more options when using points to travel to Thailand.
Cambodia: Mercure Phnom Penh Beung Keng Kong 1
We can expect to see Cambodia’s very first Mercure hotel open in 2027. Mercure Phnom Penh Beung Keng Kong 1 will make itself at home in the city’s vibrant Beung Kong neighbourhood, where restaurants, bars and shops await.
Indonesia: Novotel and Ibis Yogyakarta International Airport, Mövenpick Jakarta International Airport.
Accor’s move to sign three new airport hotels in Indonesia means travelling to and from one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations just got a whole lot easier.
The dual-branded Novotel and ibis Yogyakarta International Airport project is strategically located only a five minute drive from the airport and about 45 minutes from Yogyakarta city centre. Each property will be separated into two wings, each with a unique design style.
Meanwhile, located in Tangerang City, Mövenpick Jakarta International Airport is set to become the new gateway hotel to all Indonesia has to offer.
Vietnam: Swissôtel Hai Phong Riverfront, Grand Mercure Phu Yen Boulevard Centre
Two new Accor hotels will soon take shape in Vietnam, with the country’s Swissôtel debut expected to become a striking holiday destination in itself.
Meanwhile, the Grand Mercure Phu Yen Boulevard Centre will pop up in the South Central Province of Vietnam.
New Accor properties in New Zealand
We saw New Zealand scrap all travel restrictions in September, and more recently, Virgin Australia announced it will recommence flights to Queenstown. Fittingly, Australia’s neighbour has some new Accor properties ready for us to check out.
Mövenpick Hotel Auckland
Adding to its portfolio of exquisitely central properties, Accor brought Swiss brand, Mövenpick to Auckland in May.
Location: Boasting one of the city’s most central locations, Mövenpick Hotel Auckland is situated across from Commerical Bay with direct access to the best of Auckland’s eateries.
Details: A daily Chocolate Hour sets this stay apart from the rest, with dessert experiences on the cards for those with a sweet tooth. When your cravings are satisfied, you can retire to one of the hotel’s 207 contemporary guest rooms and suites.

Mövenpick Hotel Wellington
The highly anticipated opening of Mövenpick Hotel Wellington coincided with World Chocolate Day, which made for an extra sweet July debut.
Location: Nestled into New Zealand’s capital, this property overlooks the Cuba Quarter, with its location on The Terrace offering prime access to retail, dining and leisure attractions.
Details: Mövenpick Hotel Wellington gives guests plenty of options, with 114 contemporary guest rooms and suites, virtual gyms, a signature restaurant, bar and library making it very easy to melt into a stay.

New Accor properties in Australia
While 2022 has seen international travel resume, Accor has also been busy expanding its domestic footprint with locations that may keep a staycation on your travel cards. New properties on the map include:
Mercure Sydney Martin Place
Open since early October, the new Mercure Sydney Martin Place is one of the latest additions to more than 350 hotels, resorts and apartments that make up Accor’s wide range of accommodation options in Australia.
Location: Ideally situated on Phillip Street, this property is just a quick stroll from popular Sydney hotspots like Martin Place, Royal Botanic Gardens, Pitt Street Mall, Hyde Park and Circular Quay.
Details: Where comfort meets convenience, Mercure Sydney Martin Place is a stylish 4-star hotel of choice for business and leisure travellers alike. This property isn’t necessarily luxe, but each of the 86 rooms have everything you need (including kitchenette).

The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta
This exciting midyear opening saw The Sebel make a splash on the Gold Coast hotel scene.
Location: Situated on the southern Gold Coast, this hotel is a pleasant walk from holiday favourites, Greenmount Beach and Rainbow Bay. The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta is also just an hour’s drive from the iconic New South Wales towns of Kingscliff and Byron Bay, making this a perfect place from which to explore the Tweed Coast.

An Accor partnership with Pro-invest Group saw The Sebel Canberra Campbell burst on the capital’s scene just in time for Spring.

Novotel Devonport
Accor’s flagship Novotel in Devonport marked an exciting October arrival for the state’s north.
Location: They’ve really nailed the brief with the location here. Overlooking the Mersey River, Novotel Devonport neighbours the Spirit of Tasmania terminal, making it both a practical pit stop and a scenic getaway.
Details: Guests who stay in one of the hotel’s 187 rooms can choose from city or river views, with luxurious executive suites boasting the best of them all.
