Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched a new bonus Status Credit offer and it’s unlike any promotion we’ve seen before. Travellers will earn a flat 20 Status Credits per flight – regardless of the travel class or flight duration (excluding Getaway fares).
The bonus status credits can be earned when you activate and book before 2 June 2021 for travel all the way out to 19 April 2022.
How the promotion works
To register for this offer, head to the Velocity website here and login with your membership details. You’ll then need to:
- Activate the offer by 2 June 2021
- Book an eligible flight by 2 June 2021 (excluding Getaway fares) and include your Velocity Frequent Flyer number in your booking
- Travel by 19 April 2022
Which flights qualify for the promotional status credits offer?
Bonus Velocity status credits can only be earned for flights that are operated and marketed by Virgin Australia (that’s a flight with a “VA” flight number on a Virgin Australia aircraft).
Codeshare flights operated by Velocity partner airlines are not eligible to earn promotional Velocity status credits. Unfortunately, Getaway fares, the cheapest class of economy, are also excluded from this promotion.
When will the promotional Status Credits post?
Virgin Australia states that it may take up to four weeks after flying for the additional status credits to be posted to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account.
Important things to note
All passengers in each booking need to register separately to earn bonus status credits. Once registered, travellers are able to make multiple bookings to earn double status credits during the promotion.
Some other restrictions apply. You can review the full terms and conditions on the offer page.
Is it worth taking advantage of this offer?
A Velocity status credit offer could see you obtain Gold or Platinum Velocity status sooner, unlocking perks like lounge access, extra baggage allowance, priority upgrades and more.
With this promotion delivering a ‘flat’ number of bonus points, the value you can obtain will vary as based on the route and travel class you fly. As an example, if you fly the cheapest Zone 1 economy class ticket, you’ll essentially receive triple status credits with this offer. Conversely, for a business class route that normally delivers 40 status credits, 20 status credits is only worth an additional 50% bonus.
Digging into the details of Velocity elite membership
