PSA: Privilege Club status just got even easier to retain.
Qatar Airways Privilege Club members can breathe a sigh of relief, with another status extension granted until the end of the year.
Those who haven’t already qualified through Qatar’s recent status extension and double status campaign now have until 31 December 2023 to retain their Privilege Club status.
This is the latest in a handful of status extensions, which has granted Privilege Club members a status reprieve since March 2020, when the pandemic brought international air travel to a grinding halt.
The December extension also applies to frequent flyers who applies for Qatar’s status match promotion in mid 2020, which saw many Australian-based travellers obtain Privilege Club status.
Also good news for many Australian-based travellers, Qatar Airways is a member of the oneworld Alliance, as well as a Velocity Frequent Flyer partner.
As such, both Qantas and Velocity members can now redeem their points for seats on the Gulf carrier, as well as access a range of reciprocal benefits, including lounge access.
Summing up: Is this the final status extension?
Qatar Airways is yet to formally announce its most recent status extension, but Privilege Club members should be able to log in and see the cut off is now 31 December.
Similarly, we have no word as to whether this will in fact be the last in Qatar’s series of status extensions, but we can only assume so given that international travel has pretty well resumed.
Overall, Qatar’s most recent status extension will make it easier for Privilege Club members to retain and enjoy the elite spoils for another year.
However, it’s fair to say some frequent flyers who have already qualified may be annoyed that they probably had more time to do so with less effort.
Have you qualified for Privilege Club status yet?
