Philippine Airlines to fly Perth to Manila route from March

Western Australians are about to get another non-stop flight option to South East Asia, with Perth becoming the latest addition to Philippine Airlines’ Australian network.

Philippine Airlines has announced it will launch thrice-weekly flights between Perth and Manila from March 27.

Passengers onboard this service will take to the skies in a modern Airbus A321 neo, comprising 12 business class seats and 156 economy seats.

The Filipino flag carrier has not served Perth since a brief stint in 2013, but it’s safe to say a strong post-pandemic demand for travel will see the direct service stay put this time.

Tickets for this new route are on sale now, so be sure to read on if you’re interested.

The flight

The Philippine Airlines flight between Perth and Manila will take place over seven hours, saving passengers around four to six hours on existing indirect routes.

Flight PR223 will depart Manila at 12:05am weekly on Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings, before touching down in Perth at 7:15am.

Passengers departing on flight PR224 will leave Perth from T1 at 8:30am before arriving in Manila at 3:50pm local time.

The aircraft

The single aisle A321 neo packs a modest punch.

At the pointy end, three rows of lie-flat seating set out in a 2-2 configuration promise a comfortable trip for business class passengers looking to make the most of the night flight from Manila to Perth.

Meanwhile, the economy cabin lays out 156 seats in a 3-3 configuration.

No matter where seated, all passengers will have access to the following comforts: WiFi, in-seat power, USB outlets and seat-back screens.

Summary

Although Philippine Airlines doesn’t partner with Qantas or Virgin Australia, nor is it part of a global alliance, Australian-based travellers can still join its Mabuhay Miles frequent flyer program for free.

The Perth-Manila service will be the fourth Philippine Airlines flight direct to Australia, along with Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The new service was initially scheduled for March 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19 travel disruptions. With stunning islands, white sandy beaches and lush mountainous ranges to explore, it’s safe to say Western Australians are delighted to finally have access to direct flights to the Philippines.

You can book flights through the Philippine Airlines website, PAL mobile app, or by calling (02) 8855 8888.
