American Express has just released a new benefit for select cards, including the Amex Explorer Credit Card – complimentary Hilton Honors Silver Status.
The eligible cards are:
- Amex Gold
- Amex Explorer
- Amex Platinum Reserve
- Amex Rewards Advantage
- Amex Business Explorer
- Amex Gold Business
This hotel status value-add will be welcomed by eligible Amex cardholders who may already enjoy a range of existing travel benefits.
It’s also a natural progression of Amex’s long-term tie-up with Hilton, which delivers the more lucrative Hilton Honors Gold membership status as a perk with the American Express Platinum Card.
What’s the deal with Hilton Honors Silver?
As a step above Bronze, Silver is the second membership tier in the Hilton Honors program, and it’s typically earned after 4 stays or 10 nights.
And while it doesn’t deliver a huge number of perks, there is some value to be had if you’re planning on a stay with a participating Hilton property in the future.
How to register for Hilton Honors Silver
Eligible American Express cardholders can obtain Hilton Honors Silver membership automatically, simply by enrolling via the online American Express portal.
Once your card is enrolled, you’ll be able to enjoy a range of benefits at participating hotels and resorts within the Hilton Portfolio.

Breaking down the benefits of Hilton Honors Silver
Hilton Honors Silver status doesn’t deliver the rewards you’ll enjoy at a higher tier membership level (think complimentary breakfast and upgrades). However, the benefits on offer can still help you to save money when you travel.

Late checkout (upon request and subject to availability): Hotels often charge a significant amount for a late checkout. This benefit can be quite valuable and may come in handy if you have a later flight.
