In recent years, Accor Plus has grown a significant footprint in Australia. As a paid hotel membership program, it offers a free hotel night, half-price dining and a range of other benefits across Asia Pacific properties.
From 1 October 2025, the program will undergo a major revamp. In a move set to be announced today, the program will rebrand as ALL Accor+ Explorer, bringing bigger headline benefits on paper, but also tighter rules and new trade offs.
Two free nights, but only on two‑night stays
The value of Accor Plus has long hinged on its Stay Plus free night, delivered once yearly, which could single‑handedly justify the cost of joining. Explorer will lift this to two nights per year, but each must be booked as part of a two‑night stay.
The extra night comes with a catch. Redeeming a free night now requires paying for the second one. At a $300‑a‑night resort, using a Stay Plus effectively means spending a similar amount on the paid night. Cheaper hotels lower the outlay but also reduce the savings.
The change favours longer, higher‑value breaks and reduces the appeal of spontaneous one‑night stays. It also nudges members toward higher spend at captive resorts, where meals and extras are hard to avoid. Free‑night inventory remains challenging to secure, so booking early and checking cancellation rules will be more important than ever.
Dining discount gets a major shake-up
Dining has been the second pillar of Accor Plus value. The 50 per cent food discount for two diners has delivered serious savings for couples, particularly at resorts in Bali, the Maldives, and regional Australia. Explorer will replace it with 30 per cent off food for up to ten diners and 15 per cent off drinks across Asia‑Pacific.
The new structure will benefit groups and families but will hit couples hardest. A $400 dinner for two that once cost $200 will now cost $280 (an increase of 40%). From 1 October, over a seven‑night resort stay with $250 daily food spend, a couple will outlay $1,225 instead of $875, an extra $350 for the week.
This move could shift spend to Luxury Escapes, which often features Accor deals with bundled food and beverage inclusions. These offers can sometimes be more competitive than rates available via Accor Plus.
Status nights increase from 20 to 30
Explorer will increase the number of annual gifted status nights from 20 to 30, guaranteeing Gold status and putting Platinum within reach after 30 paid nights. For frequent travellers, this acts as a built‑in fast‑track, particularly if bookings are stacked carefully.
There is no change to membership benefit anniversaries. Status will be earned on the calendar year but will still expire based on the membership anniversary. Thar sees a member with a December anniversary unlock Platinum for two years without fresh activity, while a January anniversary maintains a shorter the window of 13 months.
Global 15 per cent room discount
Explorer will introduce a 15 per cent discount on flexible member rates worldwide. This will provide a reliable fallback when no public sale is running and can sometimes stack with bonus points promotions. In practice, regular flash sales of 20 to 30 per cent will often beat the member rate.
Red Hot Room rates are here to stay
Accor’s official benefits transition page confirms that members will still get “up to 50% off Red Hot Room” rates across Asia‑Pacific once Explorer launches on 1 October 2025.
That means access to deeply discounted, room‑only offers, often released on Fridays and valid for upcoming stays, remains an ongoing core benefit of the rebranded program. Red Hot Room offers change regularly, and exclusive deals for members will still be available under Explorer.
Final thoughts
ALL Accor+ Explorer will give members more on paper, but major changes are designed to lift Accor’s revenue, encouraging longer bookings and higher total spend.
The program is being reshaped to encourage higher‑value, longer stays and increase cash flow for Accor. Savvy members who can plan two‑night trips, leverage status nights, and align bookings with sales or packages could still extract solid value. Casual users who joined for one‑night stays and half price dining discounts might see their returns fall sharply.
Accor is expected to detail the new changes on the Accor Plus website today. We will update this article with the official links and resources once live. For more information about existing Accor Plus benefits, visit our Accor Plus Membership Guide.
