Singapore Airlines to retrofit A350 with first class cabin

Singapore Airlines will introduce a first class cabin on its Airbus A350-900 ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft as part of a S$1.1 billion retrofit program.

This move marks a significant investment for the airline’s fleet, aiming to enhance comfort and privacy for premium travelers. The first class addition will appear on seven A350-900ULR planes, targeting passengers on some of the longest routes in the Singapore Airlines network.

Alongside new first class suites, the airline will upgrade business class seats across all 41 long-haul and ULR A350-900s. The redesigned seats will offer greater privacy and ergonomic support, aligning with the airline’s emphasis on comfort for extended travel. These updates will also extend to premium economy and economy cabins, where refreshed interiors and added comfort are planned.

A new version of SIA’s KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system will be introduced with these cabin upgrades, while passengers in first and business class will benefit from larger, more advanced screens.

The retrofit program, managed by SIA Engineering Company, is set to roll out starting in the second quarter of 2026 for long-haul A350s, with the ULR variant following in early 2027. The project is expected to wrap up by 2030.

After the retrofit, the A350-900s will feature 42 business, 24 premium economy, and 192 economy seats, while the A350-900ULRs will include four first class suites, 70 business, and 58 premium economy seats.

These changes aim to give frequent travelers greater choice, enhancing cabin options on Singapore Airlines extended routes.
