Qantas has announced a raft of new benefits, designed to tempt Frequent Flyer members to book direct with the airline online, via the Qantas app or over the phone.
The two key benefits are as follows:
No-fee cancellation within 24 hours of booking
Qantas Frequent Flyers who make an eligible flight booking with Qantas directly, can cancel for any reason online, within 24 hours of making a booking. And the best bit? You won’t need to spend hours on hold on the phone to do so!
Here’s how it works: If you’re within the 24 hour timeframe, simply go to Manage booking on the Qantas website and enter your booking reference and last name. You’ll need to be signed in to your Frequent Flyer account to access this option.
Once your booking is displayed, click on the cancel button and follow the prompts. Qantas will then refund the value of your flights and any eligible ancillary product (such as additional baggage allowances and carbon offsets) back to your original form of payment. You’ll be sent an email confirming your refund has been processed.
Eligible fares include: flights for travel within or from Australia, those that were paid with cash, a mixture of cash and Qantas Points, Classic Flight Reward bookings, or a combination of Classic Flight Reward and non-Classic Flight Reward bookings, and flights that were made more than 30 days before departure of your first flight.
Complimentary Seat Selection
Qantas has also announced complimentary standard seat selection for all eligible Qantas-operated international flights departing from Australia, a benefit previously only afforded to elite-tier Qantas frequent Flyer members. Note that ‘standard’ seats don’t include those with extra leg room.
Standard seats can be selected at any time after making your booking on qantas.com or via the Qantas App. For the best chance of nabbing your preferred standard seat, we’d encourage travellers to head to the Qantas website 80 hours prior to departure, when the seat map opens up.
