Virgin Australia’s Middle Seat Lottery extended: More chances to win!

Pitfall turned prize: Gone were the days when passengers dreaded the middle seat.

Middle seat madness! Virgin Australia has extended the Middle Seat Lottery until Sunday 9 July 2023, following overwhelming popularity of the competition.

The airline will include a new prize pool worth over $45,000, with one lucky winner chosen each week of the competition from guests seated in middle seats on eligible Virgin Australia flights who enter the competition.

Virgin Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Libby Minogue said the lottery has been a huge success so far.

“We have literally had hundreds of thousands of entries over the past six months and we are really proud to extend the competition with an additional prize pool valued at over $45,000,” Ms Minogue said.

What is the Middle Seat Lottery?

Virgin Australia’s ‘Middle Seat Lottery’ is an initiative that rewards passengers for choosing the middle seat – in fact, you could very well be fighting your family for it.

Just like it sounds, the competition quite literally turns middle seats onboard Virgin Australia’s domestic flights into lottery tickets for thousands of dollars worth of prizes.

Guests who select or are assigned a middle seat will go in the draw to win one of 11 weekly prizes. Our tip: make sure an adult sits in the middle if you’re flying with family because children won’t be eligible to go in the draw.

Virgin Australia CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said the Middle Seat Lottery is part of the airline’s journey into a new era.

“Virgin Australia is an airline that’s doing things differently and we are having a lot of fun coming up with exciting new innovations to make every part of the travel experience more wonderful,” she said.

Safe to say there’s something in it for the airline too, with a recent Virgin Australia now revealing that customer perceptions of the middle seat have shifted since the competition began in October last year.

Yes a good idea , a pity that I was not aware of it until I was on board and it was mentioned on the host microphone . Probably being aged 85 has proved to be a disadvantage. I was on board on Flight VA 218 24 Feb seat 10E and Flight VA 223 on 26 Feb seat 17 E.
