Fancy a Velocity Points top up? Now could be the ideal time to take your points further.
Until the end of the month, Velocity is offering a bonus of 15-20% when cardholders transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards.
We usually see these offers come around twice a year in May and November, but this deal could be offering you another surge of Velocity Points in time for your next trip.
To earn the eligible bonus points, you’ll need to make the transfer before 28 February 2023. Here’s what you should know about the offer.
How to transfer and earn bonus Velocity Points
This offer is quite straightforward, with no registration required. Simply log into your American Express Membership Rewards account and make the transfer during the promotion period.
You can claim the bonus points as many times as you want until the end of the month, providing you make the minimum 2,000 Membership Rewards Points transfer each time.
How does the offer work?
Bonus Velocity Points are calculated as a percentage of the base number of Velocity Points received after a transfer from Amex Membership Rewards.
The tiered bonus (20% or 15%) will be received after each single transfer (note that regular conversion rates, minimum point transfers and transfer times apply).
For example, Amex Membership Rewards transfers will earn 1 Velocity Point for every 2 Membership Rewards points transferred.
That means I would earn 15-20% on top of 1,000 Velocity Points by transferring the minimum 2,000 Membership Rewards points.
Which cardholders will attract the bonus?
Transfers from most cardholders will see an additional 15% bonus on points transferred. However, American Express Ascent Premium members will earn an attractive 20% bonus.

As such, American Express Card Members who are members of the American Express Premium Ascent program will be eligible for a 20% bonus – that’s 5% more than other American Express Membership Rewards members.
A few things to know
It’s worth noting that this offer is only open to Australian card members, so anyone with a New Zealand card miss out this time.
If you hold one of the specific Australian cards and make the transfer, your bonus points may also take up to six weeks to touch down in your Velocity account, so this promotion likely won’t help you lock in any last-minute redemptions.
