Perth’s comfy new SilverKris Lounge is set to offer passengers a ‘home away from home’.
Singapore Airlines has announced it will open a new business class lounge at Perth Airport, which will replace its existing 16-year-old SilverKris Lounge.
Expected to open by the end of 2023, the new “expansive” SilverKris Lounge will feature fresh facilities and dining options, with an increased footprint that will seat almost double the capacity at almost 140 seats.
What to expect: ‘Home away from home’
From quality dining to relaxed aesthetics, passengers can expect a completely reinvigorated experience from the new SilverKris Lounge, where each space promises a purposeful design to suit a range of needs from social dining to relaxing down time.
A larger buffet area – complete with a live cooking station and full bar – will be a feature of the lounge, offering a wider selection of freshly prepared food and beverages to travellers throughout the day.
In terms of down time, the soft design of the new lounge will take elements from the recently completed Flagship SilverKris Lounge in Singapore, meaning passengers can look forward to intentionally personal spaces that provide a sense of ‘being home’.
If relaxation isn’t on the cards, passengers will have the option of focusing on work in one of several ‘productivity pods’ that each offer a private and comfortable workspace.
The new lounge will also include shower facilities for those who wish to freshen up before taking to the skies.
Where to find the lounge
Another significant plus is the new lounge’s strategic location, which can be found at the international departure terminal (Terminal 1) opposite gate 52, next to the Air New Zealand lounge.
As such, business class passengers and elite frequent flyers will be able to easily access both Star Alliance lounges prior to flying out.
Who can access the lounge?
Nothing is changing there. As with the existing SilverKris Perth lounge, the following passengers will have access:
- Star Alliance business class passengers (including Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand)
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members
- Star Alliance Gold members
- Virgin Australia Velocity Gold, Platinum and Beyond members
Singapore Airlines and Perth: A long history
Singapore Airlines launched services to Perth in 1967, having now serviced the Western Australia capital for more than 50 years.
Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul said the new lounge will highlight the airline’s relationship with Western Australia.
“Building a brand-new lounge in Perth will deliver an enhanced travel experience and reinforces our commitment to the Perth market,” Mr Arul said.
Currently, Singapore Airlines flies between Perth and Singapore thrice daily, with an additional four flights per week added during the peak travel period from 24 November 2023 to 14 January 2024.
Final thoughts
Come the end of this year, Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance business class passengers and elite members will be able to enjoy a much-needed refreshed KrisFlyer Lounge when flying out of Perth – a definite win for Western Australia-based travellers.
We’re looking forward to testing Singapore Airlines’ new SilverKris Perth Lounge and are delighted we don’t have too long to wait!

The updated Perth lounge is now open. Wow! The attention to detail of finishes in the lounge is top notch!
Earlier this month they started work to updating the London Heathrow SilverKris Lounge with the new Home Away from Home design concept. A consistent product throughout the customer’s journey is important – so glad to see they’re being efficient at rolling out the new new design language to outstations as quickly as possible.
