Qatar debuts stunning new Al Mourjan Business Lounge

‘The Garden’ features sleep rooms, a day spa and a gym, and it’s open for business just in time for Australian-based travellers to make the mis-year Europe pilgramage.

Qatar Airways has opened its new Al Mourjan Business Lounge at Hamad International Airport, promising a tranquil experience for eligible visitors, including those travelling in Qatar’s Qsuites with Velocity Points.

Aptly named ‘The Garden’, the Gulf carrier’s new lounge is nestled in a peaceful environment, suitably overlooking ‘The Orchard’ atrium, with natural light and exotic plants setting the scene for purposefully designed relaxation spaces.

Featuring 24 quiet spaces, designed to offer optimum relaxation, as well as seven spa treatment rooms, The Garden stretches over an area of 7,390 square metres, and can accommodate over 700 passengers.

Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said The Garden is up there with the very best experiences in aviation and hospitality.

“This world-class lounge showcases a sophisticated way of travel, centred in comfort, wellness and nature,” Mr Al Baker said.

What to expect

Business class passengers flying on oneworld Alliance airlines through Hamad International Airport can expect to indulge in particularly lavish pre-flight spoils that we would typically expect to see reserved for first class lounges.

Sleep

Travellers will be able to ease any travel stress in The Garden’s single or double quiet rooms, which are available to book for free for the first six hours.

Freshen up

The Garden also features a gym with treadmills and exercise bikes for those wanting to put a spring in their step before freshening up at the lounge’s showers and washrooms.

Pamper

If a mid-journey splurge is on the cards, the Al Mourjan spa offers a range of paid treatments including manicures, as well as massage and relaxation chairs.

Eat & Drink

We’re pleased to report there’s a nice variety on the menu, with the East Wing offering restaurant-style dining, promising to back Qatar’s newly refreshed menu up nicely.

Meanwhile, a nearby buffet has a range of international cuisines on hand for those who would rather eat and run (or sleep).

You’ll want to make time for a post meal treat though, with a cake and dessert section ready to appease the sweet tooth traveller, while a main bar serves beer, wine, spirits (and cocktails)!

The West Wing, on the other hand, offers an array of refreshments, with fresh fruit, pastries and made-to-order sandwiches available to grab and go near the gym.

Who can access the Al Mourjan Lounge?

Unfortunately, the guest list for this premium lounge is somewhat restricted, with access only granted to ticketed first and business class passengers on oneworld member airlines.

While this includes business and first class reward seats, Qatar Airways excludes business lite fares and upgraded Economy fares from entry.

Without an eligible ticket, your oneworld status won’t mean much for getting into the Al Mourjan Lounge either, rather, you’ll have to settle for the Gold or Platinum Lounges instead.

Luckily, Velocity members can enjoy good availability on Qatar Airways, with most flights having award seats to book with Velocity Points.

Where is the Al Mourjan Lounge located?

The new Al Mourjan Business Lounge is located in the Northern expansion of Hamad International Airport.

To access The Garden, you’ll need to catch the transfer train which takes you from the start of the ‘C’ gates and heads towards the ‘D’ and ‘E’ gates.

Alternatively, it’s about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the airport’s Lamp Bear.

Summing up

Qatar’s new ‘The Garden’ serves as an extension to the existing Al Mourjan Business Lounge, which is in the southern end of the airport.

Together, both lounges can accommodate up to 1,600 passengers at once, offering luxurious facilities that include showers, dressing rooms, business areas and spaces to unwind at the northern and southern parts of Hamad International Airport.

After much teasing, The Garden is set to impress premium passengers while it establishes itself as a new landmark in this popular airport – even more reason to save up your Velocity Points for a Qsuite experience on your next journey through Doha!
