Bankwest has launched an offer of 10,000 bonus Qantas Points for customers who open a Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account and make 10 eligible transactions on their Debit Mastercard.

The offer is open to new Bankwest Qantas Transaction account customers aged 18 years and over.

To receive the bonus 10,000 Qantas points, you’ll need to sign up by August 31. You must then make 10 transactions within the first 2 months of opening your new Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account.

You’ll also need to hold Qantas Frequent Flyer membership, to receive your Qantas bonus points. To learn how to join Qantas Frequent Flyer for free, check out our post here.

Is it worth holding the Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account for the long term?

Aside from the bonus points, the Bankwest Qantas Transaction account is one of the only Qantas points earning savings accounts on the market. You’ll earn points as follows:

  • 12 Qantas points for every $100 of your account balance each month
  • 5 Qantas points per eligible purchase with Debit Mastercard transactions, and

  • 5 Qantas points each time you withdraw cash via an overseas ATM withdrawal.

Bear in mind that the Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account levies a monthly maintenance fee of $6. This is waived when you deposit at least $2,000 per month. Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement for account fees and charges, along with a definition of an ‘eligible’ transaction

The full terms and conditions of the Qantas bonus point offer are available on the sign up page here.
