Qantas Frequent Flyer members now have even more reason to discover all India has to offer.
Qantas is offering customers even more travel options across India as part of an expansion of its codeshare partnership with IndiGo.
Australia’s national carrier initially launched the codeshare agreement with IndiGo – India’s largest domestic airline – in August last year, offering Qantas passengers seamless connections to Indian cities, including Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Goa.
Now in its second phase, the codeshare agreement allows Qantas customers to access a total number of 21 Indian destinations from Delhi and Bengaluru.
The agreement also gives Qantas customers more choice across IndiGo’s domestic network, with more than 250 new flights available for booking.
The eight new codeshare destinations on offer are as follows:
- Guwahati
- Indore
- Chandigarh
- Mangalore
- Jaipur
- Nagpur
- Thiruvananthapuram
- Visakhapatnam
How to redeem a flight with IndiGo
Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn and redeem points on connecting IndiGo services by booking a flight with a QF code.
IndiGo recognises Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits for tiered members (Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One), meaning that your Qantas perks will carry over.
This includes priority-check in, complimentary food and drinks and priority baggage, meaning you’ll be able to seamlessly carry the same baggage allowance as your flight from Australia.
Qantas Chief Customer Officer, Markus Svensson said Qantas frequent flyers will particularly benefit from booking codeshare flights.
“The new codeshare flights will allow our customers to enjoy more connections across India from our Delhi and Bengaluru gateways and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination,” Mr Svensson said.
Summary
Qantas operates four return flights from Melbourne to Delhi per week and four return flights from Sydney to Bengaluru per week.
As one of the fastest-growing low-cost carriers in the world, the Qantas partnership with IndiGo offers Australian-based travellers cheaper access to the airline’s over 1,500 daily flights across 73 domestic destinations in India.
Australia is home to almost 700,000 Indian-born people, so we can expect to see Qantas continue to strengthen its relationship with IndiGo in the coming years.
