Qantas has announced a major expansion of its international network, set to roll out over the next year.
The changes will add 220,000 additional seats, new routes, and upgraded aircraft to meet growing demand across the Asia-Pacific and US regions. At the same time, Qantas plans to boost premium seating options and introduce the first international route for the A220.
More flights to the US
Qantas is increasing its US routes with a boost in capacity. This includes the return of the A380 to the Sydney – Dallas service and investment in additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners, offering travellers more premium options on long-haul flights.
- Melbourne to Dallas: Flights will increase from three to four per week starting 6 February 2025.
- Sydney to New York (via Auckland): Flights reduce from six to five per week from 6 February 2025.
- Brisbane to Los Angeles: The Boeing 787 returns to this route, offering additional Premium Economy seats. Daily flights will be operated by a mix of A330 and 787 aircraft from 11 August 2025.
- Sydney to Dallas: The A380 will alternate with the 787 on selected days from 11 August 2025.
New routes in the Pacific
The Pacific region sees the launch of a new route to the Pacific Island nation of Palau. This remote Pacific Island is known for its pristine waters, and Qantas is also increasing flights to popular spots like Auckland and Noumea.
- Brisbane to Auckland: The Boeing 787 will join this route alongside the 737 and A330, increasing premium seats by 40% from 11 August 2025.
- Brisbane to Noumea: Flights resume on 14 December 2024, increasing to up to two per week.
- Brisbane to Palau: A new weekly route to Palau with a Boeing 737 will launch soon.
Changes in Asia
Qantas is revising its Asian services by discontinuing the Sydney-Seoul route while introducing a more efficient aircraft on the Darwin-Singapore route to accommodate growing passenger demand.
- Sydney to Seoul: Qantas will stop this service from 14 June 2025, and Jetstar will increase flights from four per week to daily.
- Darwin to Singapore: The A220 will replace the Embraer E190 on this route, with five weekly flights and over 70,000 seats annually from 30 March 2025.
Conclusion
Qantas’ international network expansion reflects its strategy to meet growing demand, with new routes, upgraded aircraft, and increased capacity across key markets in the Asia-Pacific and US regions.
