How to earn NAB Rewards Points

The highest points-earning card in the NAB Rewards lineup, the NAB Rewards Signature offers a flexible rewards program. It’s good to know that NAB Rewards offer the ability to earn an uncapped number of points – meaning it’s possible to earn an unlimited number of points each month, or each year. That said, be aware that NAB Rewards Points will expire 36 months from the day they were earned.

When it comes to ongoing earning potential, NAB Rewards offers many ways to rack up points on eligible spend. There’s also the added ability to earn additional points via a range of spend categories and partners.

What counts as qualifying spend?

Qualifying spends include everyday purchases.1

For example, a cardholder’s groceries, fuel, entertainment and dining purchases will count as everyday purchases, while cash advances, balance transfers, foreign exchange fees or gambling transactions are not eligible.

How to maximise points-earning with NAB Rewards

A key perk of the NAB Rewards program is the ability to supercharge points earn via the ‘Points Booster’ feature.2 This handy benefit enables members to take advantage of a (double or triple) boost on points earned at selected retailers, many of which easily fall into the everyday purchase category.

2.5 NAB Rewards Points are earned per $1 spent at these retailers for NAB Rewards Signature Card under NAB Rewards Points Booster program:

• Big W
• Bunnings Warehouse
• David Jones
• Kmart
• Mitre 10
• Myer
• Target
• Stratco
• Total Tools
• Home Timber and Hardware

3.75 NAB Rewards Points are earned per $1 spent at:

• Webjet
• Overseas purchases (in-store or online)

This means a NAB Rewards Signature cardholder could earn a whopping 1,875 NAB Reward Points on $500 spent at Webjet or when shopping online via an overseas retailer, while a $200 Big W bill can translate to an easy 500 NAB Rewards Points.

There’s further scope to maximise bonus point-earning potential with NAB Rewards everyday retailer offers through the Bonus Points Shop.3

There’s a handy auto-redemption5 option available for NAB Rewards members who also hold a Velocity membership, a popular program of choice for Australian frequent flyers. Once set up for autoredemption, every week your NAB Rewards points balance is automatically converted to Velocity Points with no minimum transfer amount.

With up to 100,000 Velocity Points available with our exclusive NAB Rewards Signature Card offer, there are plenty of redemption possibilities with Virgin Australia and a range of airline partners.

The straightforward autoredemption feature means that a NAB Rewards Points balance will automatically be transferred to the member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer account every week. Auto-redemption is a simple way to top up frequent flyer balances, opening up an exciting realm of travel-redemption opportunities across Virgin Australia and airline partners including Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways.

Setting up NAB Rewards auto-redemption with Velocity Frequent Flyer is easy. Simply log in to the NAB Rewards Store and follow the prompts to choose to automatically redeem NAB Rewards for Velocity Points.

Once the NAB Rewards points have been redeemed for Velocity Points, they are governed by the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions and cannot be reversed.

Book travel direct with Webjet

The NAB Rewards partnership with Webjet offers a range of travel redemption opportunities for travel.

Booking through Webjet allows NAB Rewards members the flexibility to redeem points for flights, selected hotels and holiday packages directly at Webjet.

Plus, any portion of a booking not covered by NAB Rewards Points earns Triple Points if a NAB Rewards credit card is used to pay for it. This is where NAB Rewards Points Booster2 feature comes into full effect.

Other ways to redeem NAB Rewards Points

Beyond partnerships with travel partners, NAB Rewards also offers options for members who prefer to redeem points on the ground.

As well as offering an auto-redemption feature with Flybuys, NAB Rewards members can use points to redeem retail products, gift cards and even make charity donations.

Flybuys

NAB Rewards Points transfer across to Flybuys at a 1:1 rate for NAB Rewards Signature cardholders.

The 200,000 bonus NAB Rewards Points available with our exclusive NAB Reward Signature Card offer can be converted to $1,000 in Flybuys dollars.

Similar to Velocity, a minimum of 3,000 NAB Rewards Points can be redeemed for a manual/one-off transfer to Flybuys. Or you can set up automatic redemption and automatically convert your points for Flybuys points (with no minimum to the number of points that can be redeemed). It’s a simple matter of providing your Flybuys membership number. NAB Rewards Points earned in any given week will then be transferred to Flybuys with 1 NAB Rewards Point = 1 Flybuys point (with no minimum to the number of points that can be redeemed).

Retail products

While product redemptions (such as technology and lifestyle goods) don’t always offer the best value for points, they can make sense for members working towards a specific redemption goal. The NAB Rewards website offers an extensive range of brands to choose from, including Apple, KitchenAid, and Dyson.

Gift cards

A range of gift cards are available for redemption with NAB Rewards Points.4

Digital or physical gift cards can be redeemed with popular retailers, some of which include:

• Amazon
• Bunnings
• Coles
• Woolworths
• David Jones
• JB Hi-Fi
• Myer
• Rebel

A $100 gift card across retailers including Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings, and Amazon can be redeemed for 20,410 NAB Rewards Points.

Cashback

Members can use NAB Rewards Points to get cashback on a NAB Rewards credit card or NAB bank account. This option allows members to access $50 cashback with 12,500 NAB Rewards Points.

For extra convenience, customers can set themselves up to have their points automatically redeemed for cashback to their card every month. Every 250 points can be converted to $1.

While this could be a way to put money towards future purchases, note that the NAB Rewards cashback option does not count towards a minimum monthly credit card repayment.

Charity Donations

Many of us appreciate the opportunity to give back, which is where NAB Rewards shines. Points can be redeemed for the greater good through donations to charities, such as the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, Australian Conservation Foundation, and Camp Quality.

With many charity organisations to choose from – and multiple donation options for each – there’s a cause worthy of every member’s NAB Rewards Points. Donations to most organisations start at $10 (costing just 1,540 NAB Reward Points) and reach up to $100 (15,380 points).

How to get the most out of NAB Rewards

One of the most compelling features of the NAB Rewards program is that it is a flexible points program, allowing members the versatility to redeem rewards in a way of their choosing.

Flexible loyalty programs such as NAB Rewards are an ideal way to accumulate points in a central account, while saving for a particular redemption, or simply waiting for the perfect reward match to come along.
