Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines codeshare is back

Pre-pandemic partnership glory: Passengers can once again board VA codeshare flights to Asia, Africa, Europe and beyond, just in time for the holidays.

As of Monday 7th November, arrival and departure boards across the world again feature the Virgin Australia ‘VA’ airline code on Singapore Airlines flights.

This means Virgin Australia customers can now take full advantage of the national carrier’s longstanding partnership with Singapore Airlines by booking directly through Virgin Australia’s website for travel between many popular international tourist destinations.

Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines codeshare is back

VA codeshare destinations

Virgin Australia will codeshare on 42 destinations covering 23 countries on the Singapore Airlines network, the most popular of which include:

  • Singapore
  • Ho Chi Minh City
  • Seoul
  • Jakarta
  • Amsterdam
  • Copenhagen
  • Paris
  • Rome
  • London

In addition, Singapore Airlines will offer codeshare flights on 64 routes across 31 destinations on Virgin Australia’s domestic and international network, including the newly offered services to Queenstown, New Zealand.

Virgin Australia Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Mr Alistair Hartley, said he was thrilled to see the partnership return to pre-pandemic operations, with the sale of codeshare flights now creating a more seamless booking experience for our customers.

“Expanding our partnership with Singapore Airlines means we are able to offer our loyal customers more choice and value when travelling internationally, creating more ways to see the world, through wonderful travel experiences on Singapore Airlines,” Mr Hartley said.

Codeshare benefits beyond the destinations

This development brings back the full range of rewards and benefits in what is one of the world’s most popular frequent flyer program tie-ups.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members can once again earn more Velocity Points and Status credits on Singapore Airlines services with a VA flight number.

The supercharged Velocity Points earn rate on VA-codeshare flights is as follows:

  • Velocity Silver = 50%
  • Velocity Gold = 75%
  • Velocity Platinum = 100%

In addition, Singapore Airlines flights with a VA flight number will qualify as an eligible flight sector, earning Status Credits.

Summary

The return of the codeshare agreement between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines brings the partnership back to its pre-pandemic operation, following KrisFlyer-Velocity reward seat bookings and points transfers, which were brought back in July.

You can read more about these mutual benefits in our comprehensive guide to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program.

We can expect to see the two further carriers expand codeshare flights (subject to regulatory approval) to more destinations across the extensive Singapore Airlines network in the coming weeks.
