Guide to Virgin Australia double status credit offers

If you’re looking for a fast track to elite Velocity status, then a Virgin Australia double status credit offer can help you.

A double status credit offer could see you obtain Gold or Platinum Velocity status sooner, unlocking perks like lounge access, extra baggage allowance, priority upgrades and more.

How to register for Virgin Australia double status credits

At the time of writing, there is no publically available Virgin Australia double status credit offer running.

However, don’t despair – Virgin Australia runs these offers several times per year, with the last offer run in May 2019.

Most double status credit promotions work in the same way. To earn double status credits with Virgin Australia, you generally need to:

  1. Register for the offer by 27 May 2019 on the Virgin Australia promotion page here
  2. Book an eligible Virgin Australia flight between specified dates (note that travel on long haul international flights to or from Los Angeles or Hong Kong is usually excluded)
  3. Travel, then wait for your double status credits to be credited (this may take up to four weeks from the date of travel).

Which flights qualify for the offer?

Velocity double status credits are usually only earned for flights that are operated and marketed by Virgin Australia (that’s a flight with a “VA” flight number on a Virgin Australia aircraft). The offer normally excludes long haul international flights to or from Los Angeles or Hong Kong.

Codeshare flights operated by Velocity partner airlines are generally not eligible to earn double Velocity status credits. Note that you also can’t earn double status credits for existing bookings.

When a double status credit offer is running, if you have a flexible booking on a VA operated and marketed flight, you might consider cancelling and rebooking in order to qualify. However, depending on the class of your ticket, significant cancellation or rebooking fees may apply.

When do double Status Credits post?

Virgin Australia states that it may take up to four weeks after flying for the additional status credits to be posted to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account.

How often does Virgin Australia run double Status Credit offers?

From time to time, Virgin Australia runs double status credit offers that are open to the public. So far in 2019, publically available promotions have been run in May 2019 and in February 2019.

Other important things to note

All passengers in each booking need to register separately to earn double status credits. Once registered, travellers are able to make multiple bookings to earn double status credits during the promotion.

Some other restrictions apply. You can review the full terms and conditions on the offer page.
