Am I eligible to receive the bonus Qantas Points?

To be eligible to receive up to 130,000 bonus Qantas Points and $200 back, you must not currently hold or have opened or closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card in the past 12 months. If you currently hold or have held an ANZ Rewards program card in the past 12 months (such as the ANZ Rewards Black or the ANZ Rewards Platinum), this does not preclude you from earning the bonus points on the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black.

Ok, so what are 130,000 bonus Qantas Points actually worth?

Whether you’re ready to travel now or down the track, the current ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card offer could see you earn piles of Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

Even at a conservative ballpark valuation of 1 cent per point (as published by Choice) the full sign-on bonus of 130,000 Qantas Points is worth the equivalent of $1,300 AUD.

In real terms, 130,000 Qantas Points is enough to jet off to selected global destinations in economy return with Qantas or a partner airline (minus applicable taxes/fees). It’s also enough to book a one way or return Qantas business class classic reward flight to selected destinations overseas.

Here are some of our favourite redemption options you could seek to lock in with a pile of Qantas Points (excluding taxes/fees):

  • One-way business class to the USA: Fly Qantas Business Classic Flight Rewards one way from Melbourne or Sydney to Los Angeles, or Sydney to San Francisco for 108,400 Qantas Points.
  • Return business class to Fiji: Fly return Qantas Business Class Flight rewards from Sydney or Brisbane for 83,000 Qantas Points, or return from Melbourne for 114,000 Qantas Points.
  • Return economy class to the USA or Europe: Fly return Qantas Economy Classic Flight Rewards from Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane to London (Heathrow) for 110,400 Qantas Points, Melbourne or Sydney to Los Angeles for 83,800 Qantas Points, or Melbourne or Sydney to San Francisco for under 93,800 Qantas Points.
  • 13 Zone One economy flights: Fly up to 13 times between Zone One cities (i.e. Melbourne – Sydney or Adelaide – Melbourne). You’ll pay just 8,000 Qantas Points each way.

Prefer to use your points on the ground? 130,000 bonus Qantas Points can be used for accommodation bookings via Qantas Hotels, Classic Rail Rewards, car hire, and even fuel purchases at BP. You could also redeem for gift cards via the Qantas Rewards store.

Classic Flight Rewards are subject to airline T&Cs and availability. Taxes, fees, and carrier charges apply in addition to Qantas Points redeemed. Calculated as of November 2023. Please check government restrictions before you travel.

Hi Anil, holding the Qantas Premier everyday card won’t preclude you from the sign on bonus for this card, as your existing card is from a different provider.

Hi Will, holding an additional card on someone else’s primary account won’t preclude you from accessing the bonus offer.

I have a silver Flyer Card in my name for years and my husband is a second card holder. I understand that I cannot transfer my Silver card to a Black Frequant Card and get the 100,000 points. but can my husband apply for a Black Flyer Card and myself as a second card holder .
After a few months can I transfer my points to his Black Card …? Or do I still have to keep my Frequant Flyer Card in my name.
