AMEX card members rejoice! AUSBT is reporting that American Express will be opening a lounge at Tullamarine in late 2017. The AMEX Melbourne Lounge will join the highly regarded AMEX Lounge at Sydney International Airport.
Lounge access included with selected AMEX cards is a very handy perk for travellers especially for those who don’t hold elite airline status. Similar to the AMEX Lounge at Sydney International Airport, eligible card members will be provided with a number of amenities to help them to relax before their journey, including free high speed Wi-FI, complimentary dining & beverages, barista service and comfortable seating on offer.
Accessing the AMEX Melbourne Lounge
Access to the AMEX Melbourne Lounge is available to eligible American Express card members. A small number of AMEX cards, including the Platinum Charge Card offer unlimited access to the lounges.
The Explorer Card and Qantas Ultimate Card also offer two entries to the lounge each year. These cards are currently offering sign on bonuses of 50,000 points and 55,000 points respectively. A full list of other eligible cards, providing access is located here. (includes bank-issued AMEX products).
In conclusion, an AMEX product offering access to its lounges may be an ideal substitute for those without Elite flyer status.
Hat tip to AUSBT.
I love to travel the world in comfort and style. In fact, there’s really nothing I love more than sitting in a plane at 36,000 feet, a glass of Krug in hand, watching the clouds go by.
